Some Otha Sh*t: Nike Flagship Store (Harajuku Tokyo)

Pretty damn nice!!

The latest installation in the bustling epicenter of Toyko, Harajuku, is the largest Nike store in all of Japan, and the first Nike flagship in Tokyo. While the store designed by renowned interior design firm,Wonderwall, is an expansive space in itself house to a large range of Nike products including football gear (the only other store in the world aside from Nike London to offer such items), the store is more of a community than a simple retail space.

Other than provding customers with appropriate gear, the store also has specific programs matching the customers’ product needs. For instance, there will be a Nike Running Club held four times a week, providing runners with training tips to help advance the customers’ regimens.

Turning back to the products offered at the new Harajuku flagship, the store is divided into sport-specific areas– the first floor houses Runner’s Studio that helps analyze the runner’s strides; the second belongs to the largest NIKEiD Studio in Japan; and as previously mentioned, the third floor is retail goal for footballers with a special Nike Bootroom that will offer a range of football related services.

Sure there are visual highlights such as chandeliers crafted from 400 pairs of shoes and walls created from soles of 1,600 of shoes, the store’s best quality lies in its desire to connect with the community and hyper interactivity.

To celebrate the store’s opening, Nike has enlisted the help of 11 athletes to create a special collection of footwear and apparel that is due to release this Saturday, November 14th. Some of the athletes contributing to this joyous occasion include Nobuharu Asahara, Miho Brown, Yu Darvish, Rie Hasegawa, Takehiko Inoue, Shoji Jo, Kumiko Kaneda and Misako Yusada.
