Top Shelf: 2016 Cadillac ATS-V

Just before the Los Angeles Auto Show, Cadillac has introduced the brand new 2016 ATS-V. The ATS-V arrives next spring, powered by the first-ever twin-turbocharged engine in a V-Series. Rated at an estimated 455 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque, the engine enables 0-60 performance in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of more than 185 mph. It is backed by a six-speed manual, with Active Rev Match, no-lift shifting and launch control, or a paddle-shift eight-speed automatic transmission featuring launch control and Performance Algorithm Shift. A Performance Data Recorder onboard the ATS-V allows drivers to record high-definition video, with data overlays of their driving experiences on and off the track, enabling sharing on social media.

The aura of track-inspired precision carries over to the interior, where the design and relationship of key components are aimed squarely at performance-driving ergonomics. New 16-way-adjustable RECARO performance front seats with aggressive, adjustable bolsters help hold the driver and front passenger in place during cornering. They’ve also got a luxury-performance feel, trimmed in Mulan leather with sueded microfiber inserts and seat-backs. The rest of the interior features Cadillac’s handcrafted cut-and-sew elements, with decorative stitching and authentic materials, including carbon fiber. The ATS-V also features a unique version of the 5.7-inch, three-window instrument panel cluster display, with V-Series graphics and distinctive gauge readouts.

Dopeness: A Bathing Ape x Star Wars x Medicom Vinyl Toys

Forceington..

No secret around here that anything Star Wars gets my support. I’m still sitting on boxes upon boxes of figures in the closet from the 80’s, and a couple of vehicles as well. They’ve been on ice since I was a kid, but not a week goes by where I’m not tempted to break them out and get busy. No shame in that, being that this franchise is easily the coolest ever. So we continue to pay homage as the dopeness never ceases from the great mind of Lucas.

In an interesting new collaboration A BATHING APE has teamed up with Star Wars and Medicom Toy from Japan. Fusing some of the franchise’s most important characters, Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper get together with BAPE’s Baby Milo. You only really see the collaborative aspect of the vinyl collectible dolls once you remove the helmet. Boba Fett comes in two colorways and the Stormtrooper in its classic white version.

Look out for the A Bathing Ape x Star Wars x Medicom Vinyl Toys to release December 2014 at BAPEXCLUSIVE in Tokyo.

Architecture: Glebe House by Nobbs Radford Architects

Clean..

We spend a lot of time going through tons and tons of homes, just to find one that would be deemed cool enough to post for the day. And with there being so many different types of homes, it just makes the process that much longer, but still a crazily fun one. I like so many different looks, but one that never gets stale to me, is the simplicity of a modern aesthetic that speaks to basic design. It’s almost like it becomes your personal canvas, which you can then personalize in any way you choose. Today’s property is pretty damn cool, and I think you all will agree.

Located in Sydney, Australia, Nobbs Radford Architects recently concluded work on the refined and elegant Glebe House. Designed and constructed for longevity, the narrow openings with deep reveals to the rear western facade reduce direct sunlight in the summer months. The outer concrete elements contrast with the interior’s timber elements which further define the various internal zones and functions within the house.

The depth of the rear facade creates a space in itself to be occupied and provides a sense of enclosure. Within the house the void acts as a centralizing space, where other areas of the house interconnect. Complementing materials of near raw 15-meter continuous length floor boards and a palette of black aluminum, stainless steel and oak appear throughout.

Kicks Flow: Club Monaco x Saucony Fall 2014 Courageous

Groovy..

I can speak from experience when it comes to walking away from the sneaker spot with shoes you definitely didn’t plan on buying. Shoutout to WEST NYC, for being the one spot that somehow gets me to leave with pairs of kicks that weren’t part of the plan. One shoe that I always seem to get from there are Saucony’s. I don’t know what it is, but they always seem to have pretty dope models from them, and it’s tough to walk away without taking them home with me. I think it’s part nostalgic-magic, and part freshness that makes copping a new pair of them so cool to me. So continuing with that notion, we have another awesome pair to tout today.

For their latest collaboration, Club Monaco has partnered with Saucony to reinterpret the 1980s Jazz Low Pro as the Courageous sneaker. Drawing inspiration from the classic runner, Club Monaco’s head of men’s design Aaron Levine collaborated with the footwear brand on exclusive fabrications and colorways, and added a unique speckled rubber sole. The premium sneaker’s upper is constructed from a luxurious tonal suede and features a perforated toe box and vamp for enhanced breathability. Finishing off the quality design is pigskin lining and a white midsole. The limited edition Club Monaco x Saucony Fall 2014 Courageous is available in two colorways of either Neutral or Multi-Black and is now available at Club Monaco for $129 USD.

Kicks Flow: fragment design x Nike Roshe LD-1000 SP “Dark Navy”

Nike follows up their collaborative Tennis Classic SP, with another design done in cahoots with Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design. This time around, the two combine a number of the athletic giant’s most recognizable silhouettes in order to create an entirely new sneaker.

A textured Cortez-like upper and leather Swoosh lend the Roshe LTD 1000 a sense of luxury, while the tongue features an unfinished effect with a layer of exposed foam. The toe box, meanwhile, bares more than a passing resemblance to both the Nike Cortez and fashion’s celebrated reappropriation of the German army trainer

All of this sits atop a clean, technical version of Nike’s Roshe NM (Natural Motion) sole for what may become a sleeper hit of 2014. Be on the lookout for these to drop on October 23rd at select Nike retailers and Nike.com.

Kicks Flow: Nike Roshe Run “Tiger Camo”

Righteous..

Just because Nike‘s slimline running sneaker has a comfortable lightweight canvas upper doesn’t mean it can’t be given a fall-friendly new design, as the latest collaboration from Nike between The Boxtrolls x Nike Roshe Run demonstrates.

The minimalist canvas sneaker has been crafted from a green and brown-blended tiger camo print, and is this time made using ripstop nylon which is much thicker and more durable than the original fabric used on the sneakers. The pair are lined with bright orange, which is picked up on the eyelets with a lighter brown used on the laces, Swoosh, tongue and heel tabs. All of which is sat on a clean white midsole. Architecture: Karakoy Loft by Ofist

The Karakoy Loft by Ofist is a 180-square-meter penthouse belonging to a 45-year-old bachelor in the heart of Istanbul. Natural, neutral, comfortable and practical, the residence was designed to cater to the client’s outdoor personality despite being located in the center of the hip and active old neighborhood. To provide additional natural lighting and a view to the mezzanine, the previous small window openings on the front façade were enlarged and the new folding window frames slide the width of the building to transform the living room into a balcony.

The overall design was kept as simple as possible since its layout was designed for a single person’s use. Standout design features of the home include a storage system comprised of iron rods climbing two floors and running the length of the house, a natural stone-covered floor, a floating staircase, a continuous ceiling of Iroko wood, a beautiful fireplace, and much more.
