Kicks Flow: Nike Camouflage Air Pegasus ’89

Groovy..

When I was a kid, I had a cousin who was older, who had what seemed to be every dope Nike shoe that dropped back then. One of the shoes that he used to always rock, that I loved, was the Air Pegasus. There was just something about the simplicity of the shoe and how it looked that I really liked. It’s stuck with me forever, and has always been a favorite of mine.

Later this week, Nike will be celebrating the reunification of Germany by releasing a special edition of the Air Pegasus ’89. The premium pair boasts dual camouflage patterns on the upper, each being a nod to the former split German countries. While flecktarn represents West Germany, raindrop camo in turn associates with the Eastern part of the country.

The commemorative kicks have been comprised of canvas, featuring the year 1990 on one insole and 2015 on the other. The former notes the year that demolition began on the Berlin Wall. The camouflage Air Pegasus ’89 PRM from Nike will be releasing on October 2nd at Solebox and select Nike Sportswear retailers in Berlin. You can also now customize the Air Zoom Pegasus with floral prints.

Kicks Flow: Diadora x Concepts N.9000 “Lire”

Unsung heroes really do make the best kicks to buy. Those brands that never seem to get the love they deserve, usually have a lot of very dope things to help your collection freshen up a bit. One of those brands we have always loved, that fits in that category, is Diadora.

In a very similar vein to the coveted Concepts x New Balance 998 “C-Note,” the Boston-based retailer is back with a new limited-edition model alongside Italian athletic brand Diadora. The N.9000 “Lire” refers to Italy’s pre-euro currency, the Italian lire, and more specifically a 500,000 lire bank note that was the most valuable Italian bill in circulation at the time.

Colors are drawn from the vivid aquamarine and and pink hues found on the back of the defunct bill, which also featured the Italian painter/architect Raffaello. These will be available on October 3rd from Concepts.

Kicks Flow: Nike Cortez '72

Groovy..

If you’ve been dropping by long enough, you know we love vintage kicks. Anything from back in the day that can still be rocked freshly, always wins with us. Brand rarely matters, but a classic look and some level of comfortability, and we’re good to go. Let’s take it back for a second.

The Nike Cortez ’72 has finally hit stores again after a long hiatus. Born, bred, and designed to be as comfortable as it is durable, the Nike Cortez has roots deep into the streetwear culture, offering up a versatile appearance that easily spans generations. Arriving again in its original Bill Bowerman colorway with crisp white leather, a stunning varsity red Swoosh, and a herringbone outsole, it doesn’t get any doper than this.

I’ve had a million pairs of these, and they never get old. We’ll be rocking these forever. If you’re a Nike head or just into classic kicks, this is one that should definitely be in the collection somewhere. It’s getting a little colder out now, but you still have time to get a few wears in before you put them on ice. These are available now, so make sure to cop before they vanish again.

Kicks Flow: New Balance x Oshman's CM6000CBP

How many times have you gone somewhere, and had on a nice pair of your freshest kicks, only to see it start raining while you were stranded inside? The pain of thinking about what the damage will be to your sneakers is too much to ever deal with. We’ve all been there before, and it’s one of those things that we just can’t seem to avoid. Maybe, until now.

The Japanese sportswear label Oshman’s just got back together for another collaborative endeavor with New Balance. This time, with a special take on the cycling-centric 600 C-Series. Crafted with a water-resistant leather upper and reflective 3M underlays, the design pairs a predominately tan look with a plush slip-on bootie and bright blue accents throughout.

The shoe is finished off with a neon yellow heel pull tab, which we really dig. The weatherproof kicks will be available at spots like the UK’s Hanon beginning this Saturday, September 26th.

Kicks Flow: Nike Internationalist Leather "Bronze"

Righteous..

I’m not gonna lie, I went crazy this year with kicks. The collection definitely grew pretty expediently from spring and throughout summer. One of the shoes that I feel in love with all over again, was the Internationalist from Nike. Straight old-school aesthetic, with a level of comfortability like no other. Really cool colors, and a style that pretty much goes with everything. I bought so many models, it kinda became my official shoe.

But there’s more coming. And the retro-inspired profile of Nike‘s Internationalist gets a new suede colorway just in time for the start of fall. Featuring a premium leather bronze upper with chalk white and black accents, the classic runner gets a new twist for a suitable look on the streets as well as the track. Staying true to its humble beginnings as a running shoe, Nike has kept its signature waffle sole, designed for complete traction and durability. You can pick up a pair now at AFEW for $105 USD.

Kicks Flow: New Balance x Sneaker Politics "Case 999"

Themed kicks are the new craze, and when it’s done with a certain level of creativity, you really can’t go wrong. New Balance and Sneaker Politics have teamed up on a limited edition New Balance 999, featuring an eye-catching design inspired by Louisiana police detectives who work on unsolved crimes. As an ode to these unsung heroes, the shoe dubbed “Case 999” draws inspiration from their typical attire: a navy blue police coat, red oxford button-down shirt, paisley tie and leather dress shoes.

Consequently, the upper is done up in navy and tan pig suede with a pig leather lining, with contrasting hits of burgundy throughout. A paisley print tongue, gum rubber outsole and pinstripe insole are the finishing touches that make the case. Retailing for $165, the kicks launch September 26th at all Sneaker Politics locations and online.

Kicks Flow: Diadora N.9000 “POSEIDON”

Cheers..

Fall is right around the corner, so I’ve been going a little crazy with my sneaker coppin’ as of late. It’s just tradition. Once the summer ends, we always start stocking up on all the kicks we’ve been watching for a little while. The great people over at KITH have always had the talent to make older brands seem newer and fresher, with their collaborations. Their stamp has brought a lot of my old favorites back to life, and has also brought more attention to some forgotten gems.

Italian craftsmanship at its finest, Diadora lends itself to retro stylings that have transcended time since they first began in 1948. Starting out making mountain boots, the brand has since moved into the world of sneakers. Though not a KITH edition, their latest release in the Diadora N.9000 family is the “Poseidon,” which features a mix of burgundy on the upper and navy across the toe box. Constructed in suede, nylon and mesh, it features the brand’s signature logo on the tongue while bringing vintage styling to the forefront. This is a dope pair, and one any collector would enjoy having in the stash.
