Kicks Flow: New Balance 574 “Woven” Pack

New Balance is preparing yet another exciting release this summer. For the New Balance 574 “Woven,” the brand took one of the most signature elements of the model, the woven bib, and worked with the material partner to reimagine the upper.

The new treatment translates typically separate, layered pattern pieces into a single layer material through graphical exercise and a custom weaving process. The new, three-piece upper consists of the main shoe body, heel foxing and heel back tab, and utilizes tonal mesh patterns to create dimension and texture on a naturally flat material.

The New Balance 574 “Woven” pack will be available online and at select retailers on June 1st for $99.95 USD.

Kicks Flow: Nike Air Max 90 “Paris” QS

Radical..

I probably spend too much time in Niketown in NY, and I have no issue with admitting that. One thing I love about going there is pretty much the fact that I never go and leave empty-handed. Nike always has something dope for me to drop a little change on, even if it’s an older or remodeled silhouette. I’m from the old school of kick lovers, so I’m always with supporting something that’s been modernized, but still has its original flavor.

Nike adds another model to their series of city-themed packs, in the form of the Air Max 90 “Paris.” The Beaverton behemoth pays tribute to the City of Love with a jacquard upper, hits of blue and yellow, and a custom tongue labeled “Paris, France.” It’s available now at select retailers worldwide including Overkill.

Thank You from the AA Team!! 1,000th Post

Thank You!!

It’s been a helluva ride so far, and one that I know I’m personally very grateful for. This site’s been running since 2009. I know, it’s kinda weird to even think about. But really, we’ve been online with AA for 5 years. It initially started to push music and highlight music we liked. We had videos that we dug on here and just a ton of music from people we thought would do great things. Over time, we’ve branched out into other areas of personal interest and have landed with a pretty solid array of content that speaks to a lot of different cultures, away from just music.

We’re deeper in staff now too, and have brought in a really creative squad of writers that have been killing it with posts about all kinds of things that speak to what we are today, which is basically more of a “lifestyle blog”. We’ve pretty much become a conduit for all things we love personally, but also for things you’ve told us you love. So we work hard to keep the quality going, but definitely know that we’ll continue to get better and expand as time goes on. And in the process, we hope to bring in even more visitors who’ll be able to peruse and see things they love on here too.

This has been our best year, by far. And it’s been due to some great partnerships and the support of the online community, who keeps us active and on our toes. Sharing what we do, is really a pleasure and we hope that you all continue to keep dropping in and sending emails and doing whatever you can to interact with us and help us to keep on bringing you the things you like to read up on and discuss. We thank you all for your support and look forward to providing more of what keeps you here with us for the next 1,000 posts.

Top Shelf: BMW Concept Roadster

We definitely don’t stop with the love for the BM’s. Some of us love sedans, some coupes, some SUV’s, but you’ll always know someone that just goes crazy for bikes. And whether you knew it or not, BMW makes some of the illest bikes out there right now. Consider yourself put on.

Unexpected, but not the least bit disappointing, BMW took to the annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este around the Lake Como in Italy, to present a two-wheeled concept, rather than a new four-wheeled one, simply entitled BMW Concept Roadster. Classic and contemporary design meet future technology and the German brand shows what 90 years of motorcycle innovation can look like.

The Concept Roadster comes with a 125 hp boxer engine and the low front versus a higher back, which makes the bike move even when its standing. Overall kept rather minimalist, the bike is mostly made of aluminum, keeping it light and agile.

Kicks Flow: Solebox x Saucony Shadow 5000 “Green Lucanid”

Yes, yes! So many people sleep on a lot of the classic lines. One of those lines that never seems to get the love they deserve, is Saucony. Which is so weird, because they’ve constantly put out such dopeness. We’re always trying to show love to them, so check them out and see what we mean about how crazy they’ve been forever with their kicks.

Berlin sneaker boutique Solebox has once again teamed up with Saucony. Together the two present the Saucony Shadow 5000 “Green Lucanid.” Keeping things classic, the sneaker comes with a clean black upper with light grey accents set on the front and the heel. A strong green accent color has been used on the tongue tag, insole and all branding on the sneaker.

The speckled white outer sole acts as a nice balance to the otherwise dark sneaker. Limited to 200 pairs globally, the sneaker will release on May 31st.

Architecture: L House by Studio MK27

There are all types of homes. And what I mean by that, are homes that seem to cater to different needs. There are definitely homes that seem to cater to the bachelor lifestyle. Then there are homes that seem to have been created solely for families to inhabit them. What I’ve always found interesting, were homes that appear to be made to help their owners entertain. Some people love to have people over all the time and entertain company. If you’re like this yourself, I think you’ll enjoy today’s home for our Architecture label.

The L House by Studio MK27 is aptly named for the structural shapes present in the building, everything from the pool that extends the length of the backyard to the cavernous entryways are all perfect rectangles. Flooded by natural light, the interior features one compartmentalized room leading into another through a complex network of vaulted ceilings and elongated hallways.

The house features an organic, earthy aesthetic, with a lush roof garden and manicured lawn in the backyard, and an abundance of natural stones used in the construction of the house. Additionally, smooth granite slabs make up many of the stairs and surface tops of the house, as well as stone floors on the outside patio.

Kicks Flow: New Balance for Margaret Howell 402

Dopeness..

We spoke about how much we dig collaborations a few months back. They really took over last year. And while some were definitely doper than others, we just love how two hot brands create when they get together. Now that I think about it, we should do a post on our favorite collabos one day. It’d be cool to see you all weigh in with yours as well.

For Summer 2014 New Balance and minimalist UK brand Margaret Howell have teamed up. They worked on a special bespoke version of the New Balance 402 vintage running sneaker. In line with the general simple and timeless aesthetic of the brand, the sneaker features a grey suede and navy nylon upper with white leather heel tab and laces. The collaborative branding only appears on the in-sole. The limited edition New Balance for Margaret Howell 402 sneaker will be available on August 6th.

Kicks Flow: ASICS Gel Lyte 3 Dark Grey/Black/Teal

The weather is pretty nice everywhere now. So if you haven’t started breaking out your best kicks or started hitting stores to cop new ones for this season, you’re late. This is definitely when you should be taking full advantage of the nice weather, to show what you’ve been holding in the stash all this time. Some people may not be as ritualistic as we are, but we urge you to start building your collection with some really undeniable spring flavors, if you can.

One of the most recognizable silhouettes from the ASICS Gel lineup, the Gel Lyte 3 has received an amazing makeover for Spring 2014. The sneaker’s upper features dark grey and black overlays with grey and teal mesh paneling, and sits atop a white midsole. Additional details include a purple sockliner, purple and teal accents on the heel branding and outsole, and teal laces. The latest colorway of the ASICS Gel Lyte 3 is now available at Kith for $100 USD.

Architecture: Villa In The Sky by Abraham John Architects

The architecture label continues to be one of our most popular sections on AA. People just love to see great homes, and it’s always really cool to find something that you’d love to share and get opinions on. This is one of my favorite labels on the site too, and it’s just inspiring to see what people have done with design. We can all dream, right?

Mumbai’s a busy place, so you can understand why someone might want to rise above the hubbub of street-level and enjoy a little sanctuary in the sky. This spectacular open-plan penthouse apartment features a sleek, contemporary interior beset with rustic hardwood beams and verdant plant life to create a space that’s at once both modern and aged. While beautiful inside, the highlight of the property is surely the view, which stretches from the balcony all the way to the Arabian sea – a whole world away from the busy city below. So crazy!

Top Shelf: Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé Waterspeed Collection

Radical..

I read something pretty wild one time. It said “it takes 6 months to make a Rolls-Royce and 13 hours to make a Toyota”. I may have butchered the quote a little, so maybe it takes a little longer to make a Toyota, but not much longer. You get the idea. Rolls-Royce unveils the Phantom Drophead Coupé Waterspeed collection featuring a number of exclusively-created Bespoke design and engineering features, executed to create a contemporary tribute to Campbell’s famous craft. The car is finished in a specially developed “Maggiore Blue” exterior paint, inspired by Bluebird’s famous color scheme. Nine layers of paint are applied before an exhaustive process of hand-sanding and the application of a cutting-edge powdered lacquer is undertaken to ensure an impeccable finish.

For the first time in Rolls-Royce history, the exterior finish extends to the engine, creating a visually striking homage to the power behind Campbell’s records. The finish also adorns the car’s specially developed, fully-polished 11-spoke wheels for the first time, providing a subtle decorative accent. The exterior is completed with a hand-painted coachline that culminates in a Bluebird motif with the design taking Rolls-Royce’s master coachline painter four hours to apply by hand.

Phantom Drophead Coupé’s traditional teak decking to the rear makes way for brushed steel. Each piece of material is individually panel-beaten by hand for 70 hours following initial mechanical pressing. A Rolls-Royce craftsperson will then hand-brush the metal for over 10 hours – showcasing the fastidious attention to detail and commitment employed by Rolls-Royce. The car’s Maggiore Blue exterior finish is subtly echoed on the interior via accents on the dashboard that complement the Windchill Grey interior leather scheme.
