Kicks Flow: Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Essential - OG Colorway

Righteous..

We’re coming to the end of an incredible year for kicks, and one recurring theme we’ve seen a lot of in 2015, was the return of some of our OG favorites. It’s always dope to be able to cop a pair of shoes you either had back in the day, or were never able to find back then. One thing Nike is great at, is resurrecting classic shoes and dropping them again, just as fresh as they were back in the day.

With the release of silhouettes such as the Hyperfuse and the Ultra Essential, Nike have been giving some of their legendary silhouettes a 21st century makeover. The Air Max 1 Ultra Essential OG is the latest addition to that collection of modern classics.

Paying tribute to the original by adopting the very same white-grey-varsity red colorway that left its footprint on sneaker history way back in ’87, the silhouette has been slimmed down from the original Air Max 1, with the whole upper made from a single piece of material. Details such as the quarter and the swoosh are actually screen printed on, rather than made of separate sewn-on parts, while the whole sneaker sits on top of an Ultra sole.

Retailing at $120, the Nike Air Max 1 Ultra Essential OG is available now from Sneaker Politics.

Top Shelf: Italia Independent x Ducati Scrambler

Radical..

Changing the pace right quick, to take you and yours on the road. My boy SG is really into bikes, and when we get the content together for posts on here, he's always looking for a way to push bikes more. That’s been his thing forever. I’m more of a car guy. Probably because I’m scared to death of killing myself riding a bike, lol. But I’ve always appreciated the engineering that goes into constructing a vehicle, and that’s the part that really brings it home for me. So let’s get into one that caught our attention this week.

Continuing to push into lifestyle, Ducati, maker of some of the world’s best motorcycles has unveiled a new collaboration with Italian lifestyle, sunglasses and apparel brand Italia Independent. Founded by Lapo Elkann, the Italian entrepreneur and grandson of former Fiat Automobiles CEO and controlling shareholder Gianni Agnelli, you can imagine that there is a lot of racing expertise that has gone into this unique project.

First presented during Art Basel Miami this year, a limited edition Ducati Scrambler with Italia Independent badging and other unique details debuted alongside a new collection of sunglasses, marking the start of a three-year partnership between the two brands. Each one of the Italia Independent Scramblers features a black Termignoni exhaust, custom tapered handlebars, café nose fairing, bar-mount aluminum rear-view mirrors, a blacked-out engine and shortened mudguard.

Limited to only 1,077 pieces, the motorcycle has a steampunk look, with the design being dominated by black and night copper. With the price set at $12,777, good luck getting your hands on one of these for next summer.

Fly Season: TSOVET x Fred Segal - SVT-CN38 Timepiece

Time is indeed money, but it won’t always cost you a lot every time. I used to always think I had to spend tons of money on a watch, to get quality. Now, most times, it is true that you get what you pay for. But there are a lot of pieces that won’t break the bank, but will be very high quality.

LA retailer Fred Segal has joined forces with the watchmakers at TSOVET to drop a classic new timepiece just in time for the holiday season. The SVT-CN38 is dressed in the store’s signature shades of red and navy, with a nylon NATO-style strap.

The 38MM watch has been designed with an aerospace-grade stainless steel case, with a depth rating of 50 meters and Swiss quartz movements. Limited to just 50 pieces, the collaborative collection teams TSOVET’s traditional approach with a more contemporary twist. Keep an eye out at TSOVET for the release of the elegant watch, priced at $225 USD.

Fly Season: NikeLab & sacai Fall/Winter 2015 Collection Lookbook

It doesn’t look like the flyness of apparel and footwear for the holiday season is going to be letting up anytime soon. Tons of companies are collaborating as well, and that just makes for new looks that will surely make most of us cough up more money to grab a few of the latest looks hitting stores and sites soon.

With sacai founder Chitose Abe’s second NikeLab collaboration, the traditional sportswear icons reinterpreted Abe’s distortion of volume and shape. NikeLab shows off her new creations in a Fall/Winter 2015 lookbook, shot by photographer Benoit Florencon

A marriage between sport and style, Abe’s innovative stylings only help to emphasize the fluidity of Nike garments. Her distinct aesthetic and penchant for mixed-texture fabrications have been transmitted to pleated Tech Fleece garments, slip-on Dunk Lux’s, Windrunner styles, scalloped women’s skirts, and so much more.

Tech & Toys: Pigalle x Beats by Dre - Studio Wireless Headphones

Righteous..

Headphones truly are a way of life, for me anyway. I haven’t left the house since I was 13, without a pair of headphones on me (no, seriously). There’s something very dope about being able to zone-out with your favorite music whenever you want to. We went from carrying tons of cassettes in our backpacks, to lugging CD’s around, and then finally got blessed with the ability to walk around with gigs of music on us, with the iPod (probably my favorite invention of the past couple decades).

So your headphones have to be on point. And trust me, I have tried every brand. I picked up my first pair of Beats from an Apple Store back in 2010, and never looked back. Sure, I like some other brands, but for a Hip Hop, Rock and Jazz head such as myself, nothing sounds quite like what I’ve been able to get out of my collection of Beats headphones.

Beats By Dr. Dre and Pigalle have come together to create a limited edition Beats Studio Wireless headphone. Drawing inspiration from the Parisian neighborhood Stephane Ashpool calls home, the sleek white marks against a glossy black finish symbolize the passing of time and the evolution of Ashpool’s beloved community.

Featuring 30 foot range, dual-mode adaptive noise canceling, iconic Beats sound, and 12-hour rechargeable battery, the limited edition Pigalle Studio Wireless headphones are now available for $449.95 USD.

Kicks Flow: Nike Air Odyssey - OG White/University Red

It’s that time of year when we start seeing all things Christmas. And if you’re like me, you love every bit of it. Since this is AA, it’s only right that we spread a little love to a new pair of kicks that speak to what the holiday is all about, in the name of freshness. We think someone would be awfully happy if they found a pair of these under the tree this year.

The Nike Air Odyssey returns for Holiday 2015 and the low top sneaker has been given the fantastic OG white/university red color scheme. Best known as one of the most iconic colorways of the Nike Air Max 1, the white mesh, red leather and light grey suede also looks fantastic and refreshing on the Air Odyssey. You can pick these up now from Sneaker Politics.

Kicks Flow: Nike Air Max 1 "Acorn"

Seasonal kicks are something that just make sense. And we at AA are starting to really dig a lot of the pairs we’re seeing lately. The concept might come off a little corny, but if the kicks themselves are done nicely, there’s no way you can front on them. Slippery slope, yes, but when executed properly, there’s no denying a great seasonal shoe.

Nike continues to fully embrace the seasonal themes with the introduction of this Nike Air Max 1 “Acorn.” Presenting a very fall-friendly look, this take on the sneaker staple features a white mesh base paired with Light Bone leather paneling and lightly textured Ale Brown for the mudguard and Swooshes. The look is then finished with touches of white for the laces, more brown for the inner lining and Air unit, and black for the branding back at the heel.

These are actually already available overseas at select shops, including Footsell, you’ll have to wait a bit for these to drop here in the States though. Until then, stay tuned to AA, as we will definitely drop updates as they come to us.

Fly Season: atmos x Timberland 6-Inch Premium Boot “Wheat Camo”

NY footwear staples just seem to be everywhere nowadays. Things that spoke to the streetwear aesthetic of yesteryear in the world's best city, seems to have stretched to every corner of the globe now. That definitely says a lot for how influential and stylish New Yorkers have always been, but also to how brands have taken notice and continue to feed that power with really dope products.

So for the holiday this year, Japanese retailer atmos has once again gotten together with Timberland. They kept it clean and classic this time around, just giving the iconic wheat Timberland 6-Inch premium boot a small design update. While most of the boot remains close to the original, atmos added a camouflage detail on the ankle support.

A camo atmos branded hangtag and matching shoebox are also part of the collaboration, which you can pre-order now from the retailer.

Kicks Flow: New Balance 990 “Ski Retro”

There was a point in time when we were starting to feel like we were kind of responsible for the resurgence of certain models of kicks. We were probably not all that responsible, but we just like to believe we were. One of those brands that we championed and just saw blow back up, was New Balance. If you’ve been hanging with us for awhile, you know how much we love NB and rep it all day. And that love won’t be stopping anytime soon, especially since they continue to drop kicks like the one we’re about to get into right now.

Taking inspiration from vintage ski garb, New Balance serves up a new take on the 990 silhouette. The well-appointed color scheme utilizes high quality leather and suede in shades of blue and light brown, while made-in-USA quality helps to further loft up this execution. New Balance branding hits appear de-bossed on the heel and stitched into the tongue. Availability is being offered through retailers like Feature for around $220 USD.

Kicks Flow: Nike Air Huarache Utility "Triple Black"

Moola..

It happens to me almost every time I hit the closet for a dark pair of kicks…the wondering if I have a dope black pair to throw on that would match with everything. For whatever reason, all-black kicks are something that I’m short on these days. I used to love them as a kid because I wanted whatever wouldn’t get dirty quickly. But as you get older, you’re a little better with keeping your kicks fresher and all. So the ever-elusive black pair has continued to be an issue, until now.

After recently releasing a murdered-out take on the Air Trainer Huarache Low, the Swoosh is back with a new “Triple Black” release of the Air Huarache Utility. The pair boasts a monosock design, being comprised of leather and synthetic materials.

A jagged outsole provides for enhanced grip with each step, while the lone offset on the shoe comes in the form of dotted designs alongside and at the forefoot. The Air Huarache Utility “Triple Black” is available now at select Nike stockists.

Kicks Flow: Highs & Lows x ASICS GEL-Lyte III “Silverscreen”

We’re never short on themed-kicks around here, which is one of the reasons I love seeing these kinds of posts get so much love on the blog. Australian retailer Highs & Lows gets together with ASICS once again, presenting the ASICS GEL-Lyte III “Silverscreen.”

This collaboration is part of the official 25th anniversary celebrations of the silhouette, which is without any doubt ASICS’ most popular in the lifestyle range. The resulting “Silversceen” GEL-Lyte III sneaker takes its inspiration from a movie theater in Highs & Lows’ hometown of Perth.

The running shoe comes with a clean leather upper, mostly featuring different shades of green. Look out for the release of the Highs & Lows x ASICS GEL-Lyte III “Silverscreen” on October 31st for $220 AUD.
