Architecture: Sunset Strip Residence by McClean Design

With this being one of the most popular sections of AA, we’ve decided to go with a more “quality over quantity” approach. So whichever homes we see from now on, should be the craziest properties that came across the desks here. That way, our little competition can be carried out on a higher level. It’s not easy to top the previous posts we’ve thrown up, but we definitely try to each time. The cool thing about doing this label, is we get a chance to span the globe and look for homes that would just knock you out once you see them. Each of us thinks we post the best ones, but that’s up to you guys to decide and we thank you for visiting and showing this part of the site so much love. We hope we’re doing a good job of bringing you more of what you like.

The Sunset Strip Residence by Los Angeles-based design firm McClean Design consists of three separate entities: the house, garage and guest house. All three buildings are connected by a water feature that leads the eye to a pool and spa at both ends. The main house is approached along the water feature by means of a short stair which leads to the front hallway. Directly ahead is the living room, and to the right is the dining room which overlooks the water feature. The main living room is two stories tall and has views of the Los Angeles Basin as well as the ocean. The combined kitchen and family room has a more intimate feeling than the living room and appears to float over the water feature. This room also leads directly to the backyard, covered dining area and elevated terrace below the infinity pool.

Below the main level are two large bedroom suites each with their own outdoor area. The upper level of the house contains the master as well as two additional bedrooms. The master bedroom itself has his and her bathrooms complete with large closet areas, and the sliding panels of glass surrounding the bed and sitting area open automatically to the deck which reveals the best view of the house.
