Already a dominating force on the tarmac, Ducati plans to continue their dominance away from the asphalt. Their reign in the MotoGP and World Superbike series is a well known story and they have extended their interest in automotive arena with AMG and their apparel line will be released in partnership with Diesel. If those ventures are not enough, Ducati recently launched the special edition 42 foot speed boat with luxury race boat builder, Cigarette Racing.

The 42X Ducati Edition produces a neck snapping 2,200 bhp from a pair of Mercury Racing engines which produces 120+ mph on the water. On top of that the boat is equipped with a custom sound system by JL Audio and Ducati upholstery in red and white colors.

Top Shelf: 2012 Aston Martin Virage

Don’t call it a new Aston Martin; the Virage first emerged in the British luxury sportscar maker’s lineup 20 years ago at the 1988 Birmingham Motor Show in England. Back then, it was heralded as the next big thing for Aston, but turned out to be something of a disappointment, outshined by the DB9 and DBS, which went on to represent the bleeding edge of British automobile performance. Now, ahead of the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Aston has re-released the Virage in the US, back after a 20 year absence. The Virage is a 2+2 mid engine sport coupe, powered by a 6.0-liter V-12 with 490 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, which allows the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds, with a top speed of 186 mph, according to Aston.

And while it isn’t the most stunning Aston ever, it is an undeniably beautiful coupe. Aston may be trying to position it as a third alternative, alongside the DB9 and DBS, and in that, it probably fails – the Virage too closely resembles a facelifted DB9. But if taken as just another variation on the theme – vicious but elegant touring coupes – that Aston has elevated to an artwork, it’s nothing to criticize too heavily. Aston luxury touches are present on the interior – a Walnut fascia trim, and Iridium Silver center console, and Aston technology is visible outside – it’s Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) brakes come standard on the Virage. Other options, and pricing, will be announced at the Geneva Show in March.

Following up on its Bugatti-inspired Sporting Watch, the Sporting Chronograph bears a black ceramic finish. Available in both 39mm and 45mm casings, the watch includes contrasting white markers with a red seconds hand on the larger 45mm version. An exclusive Jaeger-LeCoultre RL750 calibre is at the heart of the watch which features a retail price of $5,500 USD for the 39mm and $6,400 USD for the 45mm.

Kicks Flow: DTLR X Adidas Originals Super II – U.S. Footprint Edition

Simply more than just a retail chain, DTLR enmeshed itself among the communities it severs across 6 states and Washington D.C. A contributor to local movements through music, event organization, and outreach programs, often for neighborhoods underserved, DTLR’s cause goes beyond mere sales and bottom lines. In acknowledging DTLR’s contribution, adidas Originals invited the retailer to take part in its new US Footprint initiative.

Drawn on heritages of the 3-Stripe, DTLR envisioned its own Superstar II in all suede with perforated leather as the sneaker’s tongue. For hints of distinctiveness, DTLR added gold colored tongue label, heel tab, and snakeskin pattern embossment on those famous stripes. Top Shelf: Porsche Boxster S 2012 Black Edition

Like it’s big brother 911, the Boxster includes a bit of a power boost, and a major style boost – with all black paint, black wheels, a black convertible top and a fully black interior.

Again, like the 911, it’s not exactly the standard “murdered” look, but very, very sleek – as Porsche’s dedicated microsite says, “Black does not reveal all, but keeps the most important things under wraps…” Power is derived from a 320-horsepower version of 3.4-liter Porsche V6, controlled by a six-speed manual or the automaker’s PDK dual-clutch transmission – which allows the car to reach 60 miles per hour in just 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 170 mph.

An optional Sport Chrono package shaves two-tenths of a second off that acceleration time, and the Black Boxster is capable of achieving fuel economy numbers of 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 mpg highway. We’re sure to have more limited edition car news as the Spring auto shows get closer, but this is a nice teaser.
