Some Otha Sh*t: Carmelo Anthony's 26th Birthday Bash

YESSIR!!

There is little doubt Carmelo Anthony was wondering what happened last night this morning. Both a home coming party and a birthday bash, Melo celebrated his 26th with a network of close friends last evening, including Swizz Beatz, DJ Whoo Kid, and DJ Absolut. A delectable cake in the shape of Melo’s Knicks jersey and an exhilarating toast in the forms of giant Roman Candles are just some of the highlights. Originally hailed from the Borough of the King, the 4-time NBA All-Star moved to Baltimore, Maryland at the age of 8.

His subsequent raise in college hoop and then to the Denver Nuggets had Melo shuttling cross-country back and forth. That was till his trade to the New York Knicks early this year. But you know what they said about New Yorkers – once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker. So next day you see Melo on the streets of the Big Apple, welcome him home and wish him a happy birthday.

Some Otha Sh*t: The Crossover on Display

CHEAH!!

Growin’ up in NYC, it’s almost natural to be snatched up into the city’s Basketball culture. If you couldn’t play ball, somethin’ was wrong wit’cha. I grew up on playin’ Baseball, Little League type o things. Once I started playin’ ball though, everything changed. It became an obsession. I’m from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and we have tons of parks, so that meant a lot of ball courts. Me and my crew spent summer after summer goin’ from court to court, tryin’ our best to destroy whatever competition was on the court that day. We used to hit all the best parks to play at. West 4th’s “Cage”, 98th Street and Amsterdam’s “GOAT Park”, 76th & Columbus, Riverside, 145th Street’s “Baby Rucker”, and of course the famed Rucker Park on 155th Street.

This same competitive spirit carried over into High School and also College. Basketball was everything for us. So when cats like Allen Iverson started makin’ the crossover popular, we naturally tried to make that move a part of our arsenals, as well. Was it necessary? Probably not, but it made for a lot o’ fun when playin’ ball. The Art of the Crossover is somethin’ that’s gotten kinda lost in today’s game, both on the NBA stage, AND at the collegiate level. So when this video popped up (courtesy of The New York Times), I thought it would be dope to spread the word on it, and school some people who may not be familiar with the greats who mastered that move, or the history of it. Peep the video and enjoy!

Salute.

Top Shelf: BMW 328 Hommage

CHEAH!!

The BMW 328 is widely considered one of the 25 greatest cars of the century, such so that the carmaker has produced a unique concept car to mark the 328′s 75th birthday. The BMW 328 Hommage is specially crafted to mimic the design of the original ultra-lightweight 1,720 lb. sports car utilizing carbon fiber-reinforced plastic. The automobile was also one of the first in the line to incorporate kidney grilles upon the front and wide-set tail lamps in the rear. The sleek, doorless design and simplistic earth-tone interior make for deconstructed elegance.

Although no official specifications have been announced, BMW casually mentions the inclusion of a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine.
