Hiren Patel Architects present its latest residential space in the newly developed outskirts of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The courtyard house is a combination of contemporary design blended with traditional stylings — mixing modern elements with nature for a sense of tranquility.
Taking advantage of India’s climate, while at the same time conscious of the environment, widows are mostly positioned on the north or east of the home, whereas the west and the south contain large seven-foot verandahs — blocking out harsh sunlight, but allowing cool air to flow in. Architect Hiren also leaves his personal touches throughout the house, as large clerestory windows and skylights prevent the family from sleeping in and to ensure that the outdoor view of nature is appreciated.
