Architecture: Esquimalt House by Mcleod Bovell Modern Houses

Groovy..

Part domestic retreat, part workplace, part function room and religious worship area: the Esquimalt House by Mcleod Bovell Modern Houses is the very essence of a multi-purpose residence. Built on a high slope that overlooks Vancouver, the building is reached by a descending path that winds through a small orchard, down a set of stairs, and over a courtyard pool, highlighting its tranquil isolation from the street.

Inside, things are divided over two levels: the first being mainly open, designed for hosting large groups of people in periodic religious gatherings across the living room and stunning terrace; the second is used for family life. In addition to these, an independent work space is located adjacent to the rest of the house, allowing all three sides of life to exist independently, yet alongside each other.
