Kicks Flow: Concepts x ASICS GEL-Lyte V “Blow”

Righteous..

The reign of freshness continues this first quarter, and companies that have silently killed the kicks game continue to do just that. Yes, it may be a little cold and icy out these days, but this is the perfect time to stock up on those pairs of kicks that you’ll want to rock once we start seeing better weather (If you’re on the West Coast or in the South…skip ahead). Some of the dopest sneakers drop early in the year, and heritage brands are usually the ones that have a lot of sleepers. Today, we have a pretty dope collabo that we think will do some damage soon.

East Coast sneaker boutique Concepts stays true to their name, unveiling another heavily-conceptualized footwear collaboration with ASICS. While there is no official statement on the GEL-Lyte V‘s inspiration, if we were to hazard a guess then we would say it draws from Ted Demme’s 2001 drug trafficking classic Blow, whose protagonist George Jung (aka “Boston George”) just so happened to hail from Concepts’ home state of Massachusetts.

An all-white premium suede upper is accompanied by hits of 3M, a blood-red paneled midsole, and some particularly gruesome insoles, making for another extremely wearable addition to the store’s illustrious history of witty footwear collaborations.

Finished off with 3M-detailed laces (which come in a special vial, not that we’re implying this shoe is inspired by a film about drug trafficking), the sneaker is available now at Concepts’ webstore and retail locations.

Get yours..
