The genre bending band of the last century, Run D.M.C. can also be credited of popularizing the Trefoils in the hip-hop music scene. Ahead of its 25th anniversary commemoration, adidas Originals will return the favor with a “Thank You” only sneaker fiends will understand – the Run D.M.C. x adidas Originals Superstar 80′s by My Adidas program. In reference to Run D.M.C.’s year of establishment, 1986, only 1,986 pairs of the exclusive design will be available worldwide. 

Its design juxtapose the past and the present. The overall silhouette highlights the trio’s very first adidas Originals Superstar. Its accents are references to the bands iconic logo, the trio’s ubiquitous gold chain (the gold dubrae), and initials on the heels as remembrance to its fallen member, Jam Master Jay. The Run D.M.C. x adidas Originals Superstar 80′s will be in select adidas retail locations in the coming weeks.
