Those tax refunds come and go, don’t they? But for those of us who are a little better about saving and investing, it’s always fun to check out new cars and see what’s out there for us to drop a nice dime on.
BMW has unveiled the M5 Pure Metal Silver Edition, which has received a pressure boost and other tweaks that have resulted in an added 40 horsepower to its 4.4L TwinPower Turbo V8. That brings the total output to 600 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-to-60 sprint time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph. Its name refers to the exclusive Pure Metal Silver paint job, exclusive to the M5 and applied by hand in a multi-step process.
Additional details include 20-inch forged wheels and a Pure Metal Silver badge that denotes the car's numbered edition, reflecting a production number limited to just 50. BMW will begin to take orders in next month, with pricing starting at $131,895.
