Kicks Flow: atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Elephant”

Chaos is very close to ensuing. For Air Max Day 2016, Nike asked sneakerheads to vote for their favorite Air Max of all time, which would then be re-released in 2017. Nominees in the “Vote Back” poll included the likes of the Air Max 90 “Duck Camo,” the Air Max 90 “War Hawk,” and the beloved atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Elephant,” which eventually won the vote.

It may sound surprising, but the iconic colorway was inspired by the image of an elephant having a bath, with Tinker Hatfield’s signature cracked concrete print from the Air Jordan III constituting the obvious elephant reference, while teal hits on the Swoosh, tongue and heel obviously refer to water.

This particular sneaker is an impressive article of Air Max history by itself, but the sneaker gains even more importance when you consider it in the wider picture of all atmos x Nike collaborations. It drops 9AM Central European Time, Saturday, March 18th at Nike.com. We think these will vanish quickly, so move fast.
