The greats continue to lace us pretty nicely. I remember back in the day when my cousin Patrick had the illest sneaker collection around. One of the shoes he always had in a lot of different colors, was the classic Nike Air 1. It was just the perfect sneaker to me, as a kid. And since, I’ve always loved them.
Nike is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Air Max 1 in a big way. First, they released a remastered Air Max 1 OG “University Red” colorway, which stacks up pretty well against the original shoe from 1987. The retooled sneaker features a sleeker toebox and more accurate materials to its predecessor, pleasing trainer purists around the globe.
Now, another OG colorway has surfaced. The “Game Royal” colorway switches up the bold red for a sporty blue suede contrast on the predominantly white and grey upper. Using the same retooled last as the previous Air Max 1 retro, the “Game Royal” stays true to the original versions, keeping the slim silhouette that made the AM1 great in the first place intact.
The Nike Air Max 1 “Game Royal” is available now for $140 on Nike’s website.
