Uptown, NY. That’s where I’m from, and where classic kicks used to rule whole neighborhoods back in the day! One of those shoes was definitely adidas’ Stan Smith. Once the weather got nicer, if you were fly, you made sure to have a sharp pair of Stan Smith’s in the stash to sport. It was just the perfect sneaker. Basic, comfortable, and vintage. Easily one of my favorite sneakers of all-time, and a serious timeless classic that has never failed to amaze.
After a two-year hiatus, German sporting goods manufacturer adidas relaunches one of their most iconic sneaker silhouettes of all time, the Stan Smith. Designed for the eponymous tennis star who competed in the sneaker during the ’60s and ’70s, the Stan Smith sees a limited edition return to the market this fall in premium leather. Although the silhouette has been modernized, it stays true to the sneaker’s style and its classic white and green colorway. This first version of the shoe will spearhead a wider release of the Stan Smith throughout 2014.
On September 4, Barneys Madison Avenue will release the shoe as adidas’ exclusive retail partner during New York Fashion Week. Later on, the shoe will debut during London Fashion Week at Dover Street Market, Paris Fashion Week at colette, Berlin Art Week at Andreas Murkudis, and Dover Street Market Ginza in Tokyo.
