Righteous..
We’ve
been away too long, and we knew that we needed to get back to our homes on
here. Architecture is just one of those things that never gets stale. And what
we love about it on AA, is that we get a chance to check out properties from across
the globe, not just domestically. The response to this part of the site has
been incredible, and we promise to keep the goods coming. Your support for this
section has been crazy! And we thank you.
Built
in a neighborhood of traditional single-family homes near Skopje,
Macedonia, the GD House by INOUTarchitettura is unlike the rest. Inspired by
Macedonian culture and building techniques, the house was designed from row
concrete and created in closed cubic forms that reveal nothing of the luxurious
world inside at street view. Created with varying levels of privacy, the plot
aims to create an oasis for the family from the suburban surroundings.
To realize this,
the main building and guesthouse were built around a corner perimeter, with
vegetation placed on the opposite corner to close off an inner courtyard.
Despite its cold outlook the modern property reveals itself to be quite the
suburban sanctuary, including a modest three-bedroom house, an outdoor swimming
pool and a guesthouse.
