Architecture: Float House by Pitsou Kedem Architects

Serious..

We sift through so many properties to see which ones would be best for AA, and some just really stand out and make for great posts. I usually choose homes that I know would be a hit with the faithfuls (see: Sara) who check for this label more than the others on here. This one in particular just stood out for me so much, I just had to share it for today’s lineup. Let us know what you think.

Architectural elegance from the heart of Israel comes in the shape of the Float House, by Pitsou Kedem Architects. This large, single-story family home is designed as one continuous open space, subtly subdivided into separate rooms without the need for major obstructing walls.

Glass, smooth basalt and repeating wooden slats make up a large part of the building’s construction, combining to striking effect in the central courtyard pool.  Elsewhere, light enters the rooms through floor-to-ceiling windows on the majority of walls, while the garden combines lawn space, water features, and a canopied al-fresco dining area. In short, a truly beautiful place to raise a family.
